Maintenance of Camping Kitchen Equipment
Well-maintained kitchen equipment is safer, more hygienic, and lasts longer.
🧹 Cleaning
- Cookware: Wash in hot water with a mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive sponges on Teflon coating.
- Stoves: Clean the burner with a soft brush after it has completely cooled. Unclog the orifices with a fine needle if necessary.
- Titanium/Stainless Steel Water Bottles: Wash in hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly. For limescale deposits: diluted white vinegar.
- Cutlery: Wash immediately after use to prevent corrosion.
🔧 Specific Maintenance
- Teflon Coating: Never use metal utensils. Replace if the coating is flaking.
- Stove Check Valve: Check its proper function before each use.
- Piezo Ignition: Clean the contacts if the spark is weak or absent.
- Water Bottle Seals: Replace them if they are cracked or deformed.
📦 Storage
- Store clean, dry, and disassembled (lids open for water bottles).
- Store gas cartridges in a cool place, away from heat and impact.
- Never store a sealed water bottle with liquid inside.
⏳ Lifespan and Signs of Wear
- Flaking Teflon coating = immediate replacement (health risk).
