Product Care — Optics
Outdoor Optics Maintenance
Optics (binoculars, telescopes, scopes) require delicate maintenance to preserve the quality of their lenses.
🧹 Lens Cleaning
- First, blow on the lenses to remove dust before any contact.
- Use a special optical microfiber cloth (never ordinary fabric, which can scratch).
- For stubborn stains: dampen the cloth with a specific optical cleaning solution.
- Never use abrasive products, alcohol, acetone, or paper towels.
💧 Casing Cleaning
- Wipe the casing with a slightly damp cloth.
- Clean hinges and joints with a slightly oiled cotton swab.
- Rinse with fresh water after exposure to saltwater or sand.
📦 Storage
- Always store them in their protective case, with lenses protected by their caps.
- Store in a dry place, away from humidity and impacts.
- Add a silica gel packet to the case to absorb moisture.
- Avoid extreme temperatures (e.g., a car in direct sunlight).
🔧 Common Repairs
- Persistent internal fogging: a sign of failed waterproofing, send for after-sales service.
- Loose screw: tighten with an appropriate precision screwdriver.
- Lens scratch: irreparable, prevent impacts by always using the case.
⏳ Lifespan and Signs of Wear
- Blurred image despite focusing = degraded or misaligned lenses.
- Anti-reflective coating flaking = end of lens life.
- Average lifespan: 10 to 20 years with careful maintenance.
